Study Number Study Name Description Duration
HIPMC-P-0603-CR Sporobolus virginicus - Tested Release To determine if there are any significant differences between five accessions of Sporobolus virginicus, which were collected from various locations in the Hawaiian Islands. A Release will be selected based on propagation, vigor, and rate of growth. 2006-2008
HIPMC-P-8903-CP Contour Hedgerow / Alley Cropping Trial To assemble, test, and evaluate leguminous and non-leguminous plant accessions for use in cropping systems where conventional conservation practices are limited or unavailable due to topography, resources or enviornmental concerns. 1989-2010
HIPMC-P-8903C-P Contour Hedgerow / Alley Cropping Trial To assemble, test, and evaluate leguminous and non-leguminous plant accessions for use in cropping systems where conventional conservation practices are limited or unavailable due to topography, resources or enviornmental concerns. 1989-2010
HIPMC-P-9702-WL Wildlife Enhancement With Native Plants To assemble and evaluate growth characteristics of native dryland forest accessions for applications for conservation use on severely eroded lands receiving less than 40 inches of precipitation annually. 1997-2011
HIPMC-S-9803-CR Vetiver zizanioides 'Louisiana Sunshine' for HI Evaluate and increase vetivergrass for conservation use in HI and Pac Basin . Louisiana Sunshine vetivergrass will be evaluated under field plantings throughout the State of Hawaii 1998-2007
HIPMC-S-9902-CR Kahoolawe Island Native Plant (Piligrass) Restoration Initiative Provide technical data and release document on the large scale propagation, management, post harvest conditioning, cleaning and storage of Heteropogon contortus, piligrass. Technicial data and seeds will be provided to the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) to aid in the revegetation of highly erodible sites on the island of Kahoolawe. 1999-2009
HIPMC-S-9903-CR Kahoolawe Island Native Plant (Aalii) Restoration Initiative Provide technical data and release document for the large scale, propagation, management, post harvest conditionig and storage of Dodonaea viscosa, a'a'li'i. Technical data and seeds will be provided to the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) to aid in the restoration of highly erodible sites on the island of Kahoolawe. 1999-2005
HIPMC-T-0001-CR Native Plant Haybales for Use on Highly Erodible Sites To investigate the potential use of Heteropogon contortus, piligrass as haybales in re- vegetation work on the island of Kahoolawe. Haybales are baled with mature seeds and transported to disturbed areas on the island of Kahoolawe. Bales are then used as mulch, physical barriers, and seed source, 2000-2009
HIPMC-T-0201-CR Kahoolawe Island Native Plant (Emoloa) Restoration Initiative Provide technical data and release document on the large scale propagation, management, post harvest conditioning, cleaning and storage of Eragrostis variabilis. Technicial data and seeds will be provided to the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) to aid in the revegetation of highly erodible sites on the island of Kahoolawe. 2001-2009
HIPMC-T-0202-CR Kahoolawe Island Native Plant (Aweoweo) Restoration Initialtive Provide technical data and release document on the large scale propagation, management, post harvest conditioning, cleaning and storage of Chenopodium oahuense, Aweoweo. Technicial data and seeds will be provided to the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC) to aid in the revegetation of highly erodible sites on the island of Kahoolawe. 2001-2009
HIPMC-T-0602-WI Polyscais guilfoylei - Growth-Rate Effects from Nitrogen Supplements The objective is to produce a growth-rate in panax (Polyscias guilfoylei) that is comparable to that of Erythrina variegata or 'Tropic Coral'. An attemp will be made to stimulate a faster growth-rate for two accessions of panax by testing various nitrogen treatments. 2006-2011
HIPMC-T-9801-WI Acacia koaia Windbreak Establishment Utilizing native hardwood trees for farmstead windbreaks. This includes propagation and cultural techniques for their establishment. 1998-2005
