Description of the PMC Service Area

The area served by the Tucson PMC encompasses the high dry Sonoran, Chihuahuan, and Mohave deserts. These deserts represent a distinct and unique area.

This area receives from two inches to 13 inches of rainfall annually. Growing seasons range from 240 days to 360 days. Elevations range from 150 feet to 4,500 feet above sea level. Major land uses are irrigated farmland, rangeland, and mined land.

 

 

Getting to the Tucson PMC

The Tucson Plant Materials Center is located northwest of Tucson. Follow I-10 north from downtown Tucson to the Prince Road exit. Turn east onto Prince Road. At the first intersection on Prince Road turn right onto Romero Road. Continue south on Romero Road for approximately 7 tenths of a mile. The Tucson PMC is located west (right) side of Romero Road and is easily recognized by the adobe office building and greenhouse.
